The Brooklyn Community Foundation congratulates Girls Write Now for receiving the 2009 Coming Up Taller Award from the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. The Brooklyn Community Foundation began supporting GWN in 2005 and continues to support their programming serving Brooklyn girls as part of its Education and Youth Achievement Fund.

The new Brooklyn Community Foundation—the first and only charitable organization of its kind in Brooklyn—is pleased to announce the addition of three new officers to the organization. Joining the Foundation are Philip Li as chief operating officer, Stephanie Hyacinth as vice president for development and Dara Lehon as vice president for communications.
