Brooklyn Love: Thank You!

On behalf the Brooklyn Community Foundation and our terrific planning committee, thank you for coming out and supporting the Arts for All Fund at our first annual Brooklyn Love party at Five Myles last Thursday!

Many thanks to our generous sponsors for the night: Baked in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Brewery, JoMart Chocolates, and Q Drinks.

And to our Planning Committee: Lucy Baumrind, Sasha Baumrind, Genevieve Kahr, Anthony Marino, Margie Weinstein, and Demetrios Yatrakis.

You are helping to provide critical funding to organizations that make arts and culture accessible across the entire borough.

Thursday night, you heard and saw examples of what these programs can do. A special thanks to our featured performers:

  • Budding jazz musicians Evan Lawrence (guitar), Jarrett Murray (bass), and Manuel Guerra (saxophone). This talented trio comes from the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music’s teen jazz program.

  • Poets Mahogany Browne and Ishmael “Ish” Islam. Mahogany teaches with Urban Word NYC and mentors Ish, the 2012 NYC Youth Poet Laureate who recently published his first book of poems, Meet at Greene.

  • Ish also produced the film “Departure from a Love” as part of the Reel Works Teen Filmmaking program.

  • Brooklyn-based Haitian percussion band, DjaRARA!

These are just a few of the organizations supported by your donation—learn more about the Arts for All Fund and our other Fields of Interest Funds.
