With your support, we distributed a landmark $15.6 million to nonprofits through our Community Fund and Donor Advised Fund programs last year—surpassing our previous grantmaking record for Brooklyn Community Foundation and bringing our total grantmaking since our founding in 2009 to over $90 million! As we usher in a new year of community-led change, we are proud to share some of the many highlights of the past twelve months.

Together with the Office of the New York State Attorney General Leticia James, we are pleased to announce the 10 community-based organizations receiving $2.2 million in grants from our new Wellness and Recovery Fund for substance treatment programs, harm reduction services, and policy and systems change.

2021 continued the extraordinary generosity we have seen since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This enabled us to distribute over $13 million to nonprofits from our Community Fund and Donor Advised Fund programs last year—a new grantmaking record for Brooklyn Community Foundation!

We are now accepting applications for our new Wellness and Recovery Fund, which will support organizations working to ensure that those who navigate the difficult road of substance abuse and addiction do so with reliable support that honors their agency and dignity.
