A Toast to Change: Celebrating the Launch of Brooklyn's Newest Honor
Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming some of Brooklyn's best and brightest to the launch of The Just Brooklyn Prize—our new partnership with The Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation’s Social Justice Fund.
Community leaders from all walks of life gathered with us at the historic Weeksville Heritage Center, winners of our 2022 Spark Prize, to celebrate the new $100,000 annual award for five outstanding BIPOC champions in the fight for racial justice across our communities.
Our President & CEO Dr. Jocelynne Rainey, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, and Executive Director of the Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation's Social Justice Fund Gregg Bishop
Among our guests were members of The Just Brooklyn Prize Selection Committee, including Dr. Uché Blackstock (Founder and CEO, Advancing Health Equity), Sharon Daughtry (Executive Director, Downtown Brooklyn Neighborhood Alliance), Rev. Emma Jordan-Simpson (President, Auburn Theological Seminary), Randy Peers (President & CEO, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce), Ouigi Theodore (Founder, The Brooklyn Circus), and Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.

Each winner of The Just Brooklyn Prize will receive $20,000 in recognition of their contributions to the pursuit of racial and social justice in the borough. As a sign of our gratitude for and belief in the recipients’ vision and commitment to the borough, the prizes will be awarded without restrictions.
Winners will be announced in early September. Stay tuned for more!
