President & CEO Dr. Jocelynne Rainey Named to Brooklyn Power List

Join us in congratulating our President & CEO Dr. Jocelynne Rainey on being named to the Schneps Media Brooklyn Power List! This honor recognizes those named for their continued commitment, impact, and influence they have sustained on the borough over the past year.

In the conversation below, Schneps Media speaks with Dr. Rainey about her career, her commitment to equity, and her inspiration.

What has been your best moment in business?

Dr. Rainey: My best moment was the realization that my work could include working towards my personal passions. My personal passion is to help create a more equitable World where everyone can live the American dream. I have always brought this passion to my work, but early in my career I worked more behind the scenes to create more equitable workplaces. However, I eventually realized that this work can be done in every arena but must be done intentionally and out loud.

What is your secret to success?

Dr. Rainey: The secret to my success is my courage. The courage to pursue my dreams, be a continuous learner, to hire and work with professionals that may be smarter than me, to make decisions for the greater good and most importantly to trust myself.

Who inspires you?

Dr. Rainey: My sons. They are very different personalities but what inspires me is how resilient, kind and generous they are. I have observed them both be remarkably brave and push themselves out of their comfort zones in ways I wasn’t able to at their age. They inspire me to push myself out of my comfort zone every day to accomplish my goals.
