Welcoming Our New Program Associate, Keyla Davis

Brooklyn Community Foundation extends a warm welcome to our new Program Associate, Keyla Davis! Born and raised in Brooklyn, Keyla is a recent graduate with a bachelors in Sociology and Public Policy, and a clear dedication to supporting and uplifting the community through volunteer work and education. Keyla first joined the Foundation in 2021 as a member of the advisory councils for our Immigrant Rights and Invest in Youth funds, and we are happy to continue working with her as she takes on this new role.

Below, Keyla tells us about her connections to the borough, her neighborhood, and the Foundation’s mission.

What do you love about Brooklyn?

I love that Brooklyn is so teachable—you can always find a story anywhere or learn anything about our culture, our history, or the people.

What’s your favorite thing about your neighborhood?

I admire how resilient we are throughout challenges and how familiar we are with neighbors—whether they live next door or 10 blocks away, we always recognize and support one another.

What does Brooklyn Community Foundation’s mission to spark change mean to you?

To me, it means participating in effective ways that allow us to enforce equity throughout Brooklyn.

What’s Brooklyn to you in one word?

Sturdy.
