THANK YOU: Record $7.4 Million for Nonprofits in 2019
Thanks to our generous donors and community partners, 2019 set new records for the Foundation’s grantmaking! We distributed $7.4 million to nonprofits through our Community Fund and the 75 Donor Advised Funds that we now administer at the Foundation.
Aimed at investing in strategies that attack the root causes of injustice in our borough—with a focus on community engagement—our Community Fund supported the work of more than 131 organizations:
- $2.5 million for transformational youth programs through our Invest in Youth initiative
- $650,000 to outstanding Brooklyn nonprofits through our Spark Prize
- $500,000 for critical legal aid, social services, and frontline advocacy through our Immigrant Rights Fund
- And $340,000 for the first-ever grants from our Brooklyn Elders Fund
And as our Donor Advised Fund program grows, we are pleased to share that our donor advisors designated nearly $2 million to Brooklyn!
Lastly, nearly 2700 donors raised over $800,000 for local nonprofits through our #BrooklynGives campaign.
What an incredible year for generosity and justice in the borough. THANK YOU!
