Your support is sparking change in Brooklyn — See how in our new report
Dear Friend of Brooklyn Community Foundation:
In the past year, our borough has faced critical challenges, and in response we have witnessed remarkable Brooklynites come together to support their friends and neighbors in the fight for fairness and equity.
Through the generosity of our donors and Donor Advised Fund holders, we’re delighted to report that in 2018 we raised a record-breaking $16.5 million to serve our borough and distributed over $7 million in vital funding to key community partners. We have come a long way in our 10 years as Brooklyn’s community foundation.
In our annual Insights to Impact Report, you will learn more about our work meeting the needs of our borough’s most vulnerable communities and supporting nonprofits on the frontlines of change.
In addition to our core initiatives, we have made great advancements in the past year thanks to our supporters:
-
We launched the Brooklyn Elders Fund—a permanent $10 million endowed fund to promote the care and welfare of older Brooklynites;
-
We established Brooklyn's Complete Count Committee for Census 2020 to ensure our borough receives its fair share of federal resources and representation in the next decade;
-
We have awarded over $800,000 to date from our Immigrant Rights Fund to organizations on the ground defending the liberties of immigrant individuals and families in our communities.
Maintaining this incredible momentum relies on your partnership. Please consider making a donation to continue this important work—every dollar from your contribution will go right back to Brooklyn.
Thank you for your support as we strive to create a more fair and just Brooklyn for all.
Sincerely,
Alan Fishman Harsha Marti Sarah Williams
