Thank You: $5.4 Million for Our Communities in 2017

We thank you. Your community thanks you. Brooklyn thanks you.

In 2017, Brooklyn Community Foundation invested $5.4 million in nonprofit programs through our Community Fund and Donor Advised Fund programs—$1.5 million more than the previous year!

An incredible 70% increase in contributions to our Community Fund enabled us to deploy over $3.5 million to expand strategic efforts through our Invest in Youth initiatives, our Neighborhood Strength resident-led grantmaking model in Crown Heights, our nonprofit capacity-building Spark Prize#BrooklynGives campaign, and Incubator Project, and of course our Immigrant Rights Fund, which has taken on emergency and long-term response to restrictive and unjust federal policies.

Through our Donor Advised Fund program, fund holders directed nearly $1.9 million in grants, the vast majority of which supported organizations right in their own backyards. More and more of our fund holders are connecting with local nonprofits and building new pathways of support to these vital organizations.

And thanks to our Foundation's unrestricted endowment that covers operating expenses, 100% of your donations to our Community Fund, as well as fees from our Donor Advised Fund program, go directly to Brooklyn. Your gift goes even further for Brooklyn's communities when you give with us.

Thank you for your generosity and we wish you a happy new year.
