Connie Sargent

Connie is a retired ESL teacher. She taught English business writing and communications skills to foreign graduate students at the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University and at the American Language Program at Columbia University. She spent many years teaching survival English to refugees resettled in New York City through the International Rescue Committee.

Prior to teaching, Connie did marketing, promotion, and public relations for Maxwell House brands, CBS Television, and Habitat for Humanity NYC. She served for 5 years as Habitat’s Vice Chair of the Board, and chair of the Development Committee. In addition to being on the Board, she is also a Trustee at the National Parks Conservation Association. She holds a BA in Literature from Penn State, an MBA in Marketing from Columbia University, and a MATESOL from the New School. She joined Brooklyn Org’s Board of Directors in November 2019.
