Over 600 Brooklynites have participated in Brooklyn Insights since we launched in January, each with their own unique Brooklyn story—and we want to share a few of them with you. Giving Impact: Bay Parkway Job Center
In 2002, we provided seed funding for New York City’s first-ever day labor job center, in Bensonhurst. Today, the Bay Parkway Community Job Center is celebrated national model, having helped raise day labor wages from $8 to $22.50 per hour, while cutting down on wage theft, improving health and safety conditions, and fostering good community relations in southern Brooklyn. Run for Hope in Prospect Park, Sunday, April 27 at 9AM – Join in the second annual 5K run/walk for the Hope Reichbach Memorial Fund, which supports and nurtures Brooklyn’s future leaders.
Shop Local & Give Local at By Brooklyn, May 1 to June 15 – This spring, both By Brooklyn and Brooklyn Community Foundation will match shoppers' donations in support of local nonprofits! By Brooklyn will also donate a portion of proceeds from Mother’s Day gifts.
