A New Foundation for Brooklyn
With more than 2.5 million residents—more than any other New York City borough—Brooklyn would be the fourth largest city in the United States.
There's a reason so many people call Brooklyn home.

Brimming with passion, creativity and energy, Brooklyn boasts top notch colleges, hospitals, world class cultural institutions and open spaces and a vibrant business and retail sector. Its architecture, history, cultural and ethnic richness, and tradition of welcoming newcomers with new ideas and big dreams make Brooklyn a place to live, grow and stay.
Unfortunately, Brooklyn also has all the problems of a big city: unacceptably high rates of poverty and unemployment, under-resourced public housing communities, high drop out rates for young adults, poor maternal health statistics, vulnerable seniors, a growing number of home foreclosures, and an increasing number of people seeking emergency food relief.
Brooklyn has never had its own foundation; one devoted exclusively to raising money to support creative, effective nonprofits working to address the borough’s critical needs. Until now.
The first of its kind in Brooklyn, the new Brooklyn Community Foundation connects donors to causes, fosters partnerships and builds leaders to help contend with the crucial issues facing Brooklyn and its people.
